Gay of Bengal passes away

National award winning film director, actor, Rituporno Ghosh passed away two days back.

He started his career in advertising and his directional debut was Hirer Angti (The diamond ring). Ghosh received a National film award for Best Director for his Bengali film ‘Abohoman ‘starring Jishu Sengupta, Ananya Chatterjee. Some of his films include ‘Chokher Bali’, ‘Last Lear’, ‘Unishe April’ and ‘Raincoat.

He had bagged 12 National Awards and several acclaimed international awards.

I salute him for his courage more than anything else. Creativity is primarily about honesty and he was perhaps one of the most honest creative minds India has ever seen. And btw “Gay of Bengal” was something which he used to call himself.

Long live the renaissance man…
